How should we live life? What is true? What really matters? When questions like these are asked, sooner or later we begin talking about God. (Hopefully sooner rather than later!) God must have some very important things to say about life since He created it. He created you and me.
Jesus said two things about life immediately worth mentioning. First, some incredibly good news: “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). We could hardly think of anything more encouraging than that statement from Jesus — for Jesus, God incarnate, was sent to bring life to us.
Secondly, Jesus specifically tells us what that life is. “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent” (John 17:3). In other words, this life is eternal and it is fundamentally knowing God. It’s a relationship that lasts forever. And even more specifically, it’s not about merely knowing God ‘in general’, but the sent one: Jesus Himself.
This is the key to living life!
But that, of course, doesn’t supply all the direction, encouragement, and information that we need. Jesus had a lot more to say, of course, as does the rest of the Bible.
This fall New Life will offer The Life Course, which is a guided tour through the essentials of a life of faith. If you are a relatively new believer, this might be just what you need to help you reboot your life. If you have been a believer for a while, you might also find this helpful to refresh, refocus, or reinvigorate your life.
What will the course involve? Lecture, video clips, small group discussions, and practical homework assignments.
- Understanding the big story of the Bible
- Harnessing gospel power for life change
- Learning how to pray… and doing it!
- Navigating specific 21st century challenges
- And more…
The course will run 10 weeks, being held on Monday nights at the church, starting Sept 18. 7-9 PM. Pastor Mark Moser will be teaching and facilitating.
Note: if desired, we may also offer the course on Thursday nights at 7-9 PM, starting September 28. Please mail firstname.lastname@example.org immediately if you are interested in this option.
The cost is $20 per person, to help defray costs for materials.
We really want attendees to be present as much as possible! We are inviting you to sign up if you think you can attend at least 8 of the 10 sessions.
Stay tuned for more details!
